A talk at Porthmeor Studios as part of the St Ives September Festival, 21st September 2023.
'Join art historian Matt Retallick for a talk on the painter Karl Weschke. Arriving in Britain as a German Prisoner of War, and later settling in Penwith in 1955, Weschke captured the turbulence and displacement of his life in paint. This is the inaugural public talk of Matt’s doctoral research, the first in-depth academic study of the artist and his work.'
The talk took place in the Borlase Smart Room of Porthmeor Studios, ran by the Borlase Smart John Wells Trust.
